| Mining
activities do cause some damage to ecology in some ways. It
has been our constant endeavour to limit this damage to the
minimum and to make up for it in various ways. Thus we grow
more trees usually in the dead dumps and cultivate green belts
around mining areas. The saplings of a variety of plants,
required for afforestation, are being grown at the company's
own nursery and planted during the monsoons.
Surface
disposal of rejection is being minimized by dumping the rejects,
to the extent possible, in the available abandoned mining
pits, which have been worked to the optimum level. |
