ALGAOCAR MEDICAL RESEARCH CENTRE : The Salgaocar Group entered into the field of health care with the establishment of this centre. The research laboratory was set up in 1978 followed by a hundred bedded hospital in 1981. The research centre which has been recognised by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, has undertaken several research projects till now.

V M Salgaocar Foundation
Named after our Founder Chairman Mr. Vasudev M Salgaocar of happy memory, the trust was established in 1986, two years after his death. The V M Salgaocar Foundation has grown over the years in its gamut of philanthropic activities covering a wide range that includes education and learning, literature, culture and sports. We pursue and reward excellence by instituting awards and prizes that give recognition to merit and performance without distinction of caste, creed or community.

      Our awards and prizes speak for the Foundation in no uncertain terms :

• Endowments through Goa University for Scholarships/Cash Awards to the student who ranks first in:
1. the final year MBBS Examination from the Goa Medical College;
2. the final year BE (Mechanical) Examination from Goa College of Engineering;
3. the final year LLB Examination in Goa;
4. the final year of both graduate and postgraduate levels in Zoology.
• Annual Award of Gold Medal to the student obtaining first rank in LLM.
• Annual Award of Rs.10,000/- to the best student of Final Year B.Tech (Mining Engineering) from Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad.
• Cash Prizes of Rs.5000/- each and a Merit Certificate to the first five students securing the highest marks in SSC Examinations of Goa Board; and one to each student who tops the list in the ICSE and CBSE Examinations respectively from Goa.
• Cash Award of Rs. 1 lakh and a Silver Plaque to an eminent Goan who has made significant contribution and has distinguished himself in any sphere of activity covering Arts & Culture (including performing arts)/ Science & Technology/ Education/ Humanities/ Sports/ Business & Industry/ Medicine/ Environment/ Literature/ Journalism/ Social Work.

      The Foundation has published "Teen Daskam", an anthology of Konkani Literature of the last three decades. More publications will follow on annual basis covering Literature, Culture and History of Goa.

      To promote sports and games in a big way, the Foundation sponsors and conducts tournaments in football, cricket, basketball, marathon races and similar events in Goa at various levels.
