    ALGAOCAR SPORTS CLUB
The name of Salgaocar Sports Club occupies a pride of place in the annals of the history of football in India. Salgaocars have distinguished themselves in football right from 1956 when the club was founded to promote football talent in Goa.

Salgaocars Football Team was the first Goan team to participate in the prestigious Durand Football Tournament in New Delhi after Goa's liberation in 1961.The team was felicitated by late Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru at his residence. That was just the beginning of a long and triumphant association at the national level for the past forty years.

In the long list of victories that Salgaocars have won at the local and national levels, some stand out with a mark of distinction:
  • Winners of the Federation Cup (Champion Club - India) in 1989 & 1997
  • Runners up of the Federation Cup in 1987, 1990 & 1993
  • Goa Soccer League Champions in 1991, 1992 & 1993

    CRICKET

Two great legacies bequeathed to India by the British are the English language and the game of cricket. While the former continues to be an official language in India, the latter has contributed a great deal to developing a people to people relationship.

Salgaocar's cricket team has been instrumental in contributing many talented players to Goan cricket. Our cricket team has performed remarkably well in the local and outstation tournaments. In the last two seasons we have won nearly every major tournament in Goa. The cricket team was crowned Premier Division Champions for the season 1997-98 and individual & collective performances brought victories in two of the four tournaments participated in.

Our La-Paz Gardens Sports club also did extremely well and won three of the five tournaments in which it took part during the 1997-98 season.
